Aila Hits Bengal
Kolkata was hit by a strong gale (90 to 100km/hour) which uprooted trees all over the city on 25th May. The rural areas were affected- over a hundred thousand people lost their homes. Some blocks like Kakdwip seems to have been difficult to reach.
Meanwhile in a different part of India - Dr Binayak Sen was released from Raipur jail at 5.45pm following bail granted by the Supreme Court yesterday.
